I had the priviledge of being interviewed by BallzCreations the other day. He is such a cool guy and told me I could post the article on the lounge so all of our members could see it. Pop over to his blog as well he has some really cool stuff on there.Thursday, April 1, 2010Have you ever wondered who works in the porn industry? Not the models, we see them and get hypnotized by their beauty... but behind the scenes? The inner workings of an adult web site? Out of all these beautiful girls at ATK, have you ever wondered who's behind them? (no pun intended) Who makes beauty happen? I had the privilege of sitting down and chatting with Advent from ATK. I asked some random questions to a woman who works in the industry. Let's hear what SHE has to say.
 THE JOB What is your position in the adult business? - I am currently the Customer Service and Affiliate Manager, the editor for www.ATKLounge.com and I process all of the shoots coming into the company so I get to see all of them before anyone else does. What company do you work for? - I work for ATKingdom, who is most famous for hairy.amkingdom.com. We also have 6 other sites: Galleria, Archives, Exotics, Premium, Petites and ATKMovies.
Are you - straight, bi, gay/lesbian? - I am straight. How long have you been with ATK? - I have been with ATKingdom for less than one year at this point. Why/How did you get into the business? - It was sort of by accident. I came into the company as a temporary worker while I found a job in my field, my background is in Real Estate Law. The owner of the company was pleased with me and asked if I would be willing stay with the company permanently. Within a couple of months I took over of the Customer Service Manager position and a couple weeks ago I was given the task of revamping our Affiliate Program. Best part of your job? - I get to meet all kinds of interesting people. I have meet, models, male talent, photographers, authors, musicians and just good honest people. Not everyone in this business is a diva or a sleazy old man. :) Worst part of your job? - At this point I can not say there is anything I do not like about my job. I work for a great company and they are very good to me. I have amazing co-workers that share the same work ethic I do. How do you like your coffee? - I really don't drink coffee unless it is sitting on my Mom's front porch with her. I do however love those Starbucks Frappuccinos you get in the cooler. How often do you get turned on at work? - When I first started I have to admit I did get turned on almost everyday but now it takes a really hot girl to do it for me and of course I do have my favorites. Such as Alice on Galleria or Jandi on Exotics these girls are just hot. One place you want to go but have not been? - I would love to go the Playboy Mansion. I think it would be really cool to see it from the inside. I have friends that have been and I am jealous. I am keeping my fingers crossed though so hopefully it will happen one day. THE FAV Favorite color? - Blue Favorite food? - I love all kinds but if I had to chose it would be seafood. I am not shy around food, I will try anything. I think that is why I got so sick when I went to Bangkok, I guess I should be more selective in what I taste but if you don't try you don't know if you are going to like it. Favorite place to eat? - I love to eat at Cracker Barrel, they do not have them in California so that is probably why I miss it so much. Favorite drink? - I love vodka but vodka does not love me so I have to go with Peach Schnapps and Orange Juice. WHAT I THINK Have any tattoos? if yes, what and where? - I have three tattoos. Two on my back and one on my leg. It's Friday night. What are you doing? - Answering member emails :) I really do not have a life outside of the company. I am always on call for our members so I check my email constantly 7 days a week. I have off 4 days a month where I get someone else to answer them for me but other than that when you email support you get me. :)  One inside thing people don't know about the porn industry? - I don't think people realize it take 9-14 hours to do one shoot. That consists of 10-12 wardrobe changes, mulitpule rooms and a ton of different positions. So when you go for a shoot you need to pack a cooler of food. The first time I went to a shoot I had no idea that it would take that long. My first shoot lasted for 14 1/2 hours, I was so tired and I was not even doing anything. These models work their butts off to give our members the best possible content they can.  Coolest person you have met in the business? - I have met so many people through these business. We do so much social networking so I meet new people everyday. I would have to say Sativa Verte. She is so down to earth and such a real person. When I first met her we just clicked. Then of course there is Heidi Hanson, I can't wait to go to one of her shoots.  How do people react when they know what you do for a living? - My Mom was cool about it because she is so awesome, I had no worries about telling her. I had to think twice about telling my father but to my surprise he was cool about it also. My brother thinks I am the coolest person in the world. LOL Most of my family do not know. I was raised in the South and people just don't do this sort of thing. Sometimes I get, "How did a nice girl like you get into a business like that?" I just think people are very uneducated when it comes to the porn industry. We have a couple of bad apples and it spoils it for the rest of us. I really like what I do and I really like the company I work for. I am happy so that should be all that counts. If you were given $1Million how would you spend it? - I help my Mom retire. Then we would see. I am not a flashy person so a big fancy house or fancy cars just do not do it for me. I would keep my job because I would need something to do. :) I would just be happy with the fact that money would never be an issue. Give me your 2¢ on anything. - I do not think people realize the network of ATK sites are member driven. When members take the time to send us feedback it is sent through the entire company and every employee reads it along with the photographers. Every email we get into support is replied to by me and not with a canned response. I engage members in conversation to find out exactly what they want from us. They send in suggestions and we listen. For instance, one member wrote in that we should get a brannock to measure our models feet and now that is part of the interview for Petites. We do everything we can to please our members because they are the ones that count. Sometimes they surprise us. We may not think a model is going to do well and then before you know it she has a HOT rating and we are booking her for a second shoot. Finally, what is the most unusual thing you have come across in your position? - I think the most unusual thing I have come to realize is how different people are in what turns them on. Somethings I have never heard of and then somethings I did not are niches but turns out they are. Some people like certain brands of shoes where some guys HATE feet and anything that has to do with them. Some like clean, manicured hands and others like to see a little dirt under the nails. You never know what you are going to get. On a daily bases I have to answer emails where one person is saying that set was the hottest thing they have ever seen and others say we are perverts for putting that on our site. I just have to help them realize that everyone is different and hopefully we do have some content they do like. Thanks Advent for sitting down and chatting! Most of my family would not understand anything to do with "porn" they think it is all dirty and they would not want to know that anyone in "our" family would have anything to do with something like that. The most important people in my life know what I do and they are proud of me so I really don't care if my aunts, uncles and cousins know.
I really do enjoy working for ATK. Of course it did take some getting use to but I think I fit in nicely here and I do not plan on going anywhere anytime soon.
 written by mucs, April 08, 2010  Did you check at ATK if maybe one of your cousins or uncles is a ATK member ? Never trust conservative people who say that the adult industry is wrong and dirty. Well if you don't have a problem with the fact that you cannot tell most of your family what you do for a living than that's good for you. But personally i think it is plain wrong that you have to hide what you do just because they are not willing to accept that you make choices that are based upon your moral standards instead of their moral standards.

It seems that not just the photographers and models make long hours.
Good for you that you enjoy your work! That is all that matters.
It's not my business but i don't understand why most of your family don't know what you do for a living. I do understand that the USA is for a large part a conservative Christian country but you are not a nude model yourself. Ah well, i better not start about hypocrite Christian values.
Anyway, interesting read! Thanks for sharing.
